Clinical Reformer Pilates in Bendigo

What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is a specific form of pilates, with individually designed programs based on a thorough assessment of your problems.  It is safe, gentle and highly effective, using a combination of floor and equipment-based exercises targeted at improving core stability, flexibility and efficient movement patterns and postures.

Clinical Pilates uses concepts of movement, control and breathing coordination, with the aim to improve function and ultimately quality of life.

Its principles promote efficient movement patterns and specific recruitment and utilisation of central stabilizing and core muscle groups.  The exercises can challenge people at a very wide range of levels from the beginner to high level sporting athletes.

What to Expect From Your Clinical Pilates Program

When you begin on a Clinical Pilates program at Physiotherapy Centre Bendigo, you can expect a comprehensive and personalised approach to meet your specific needs. The first step is an initial appointment with one of our qualified physiotherapists, who will assess your condition and determine the suitability of Pilates for you. This assessment ensures that your program is tailored to your individual requirements.

Following the assessment, your physiotherapist will work closely with you during a series of 1:1 sessions. These sessions are designed to establish a customised program that addresses your unique condition, goals, and limitations. The physiotherapist will guide you through the exercises, providing hands-on assistance, corrections, and modifications as needed. These 1:1 sessions allow for a focused and detailed approach to ensure proper technique and progress in your rehabilitation journey.

As you progress and gain confidence, most patients will transition to independent sessions in our practice. These sessions provide you with the opportunity to complete your program independently, with the comfort of knowing our physiotherapists are onsite and can be available for support and assistance if needed. Regular reviews with your physiotherapist will be scheduled to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments or progressions to your program.

It’s important to note that if you prefer to continue with one-on-one sessions throughout your Clinical Pilates program, that this can be accommodated as needed. Our priority is to ensure that you receive the level of support and guidance that best suits your preferences and requirements.
